One of my favorite varieties is the faceted tungsten ring. What makes these special is that they’ve been cut using a special diamond blade in order to create a gem-like feel to the ring. The ring is still highly polished, but now it has numerous surfaces to reflect light off of, making it seem brighter. The facets can come in many varieties – some rings have only their edges faceted while others will facet the entire exterior surface. Variety is the spice of life, after all, and it allows you the consumer to pick out just the one you like.

Tungsten may be very hard and scratch proof, but it is actually very brittle. Well, not brittle as in you can throw it against the floor and it will shatter, but it could chip. So, a ring made out of tungsten carbide can be easily removed by cracking it into pieces with standard vice or vice-grip pliers. Standard ring cutters will not work.
